Greg Verdino Smarts on Writing!

On July 17, 2009, in Featured, by Nettie Hartsock

My friend and amazing social guru Toby Bloomberg turned me on to Greg Verdino’s blog, and he has a very cool post on writing his book and how he is tackling that mission!

The post really highlights many of the fears that all writers go through and I admire Greg for putting them Web-face forward! I encourage you to read the whole post as it will inspire you with both its frankness and sincerity. Also if you have some tips for Greg – post them as comments to his blog!

Here’s a snippet from Verdino’s post, “On the other hand, when I do light upon an idea that seems to be all my own I sometimes wonder why nobody else has written about it before and begin to discount the validity of the idea. ”

Now go and read his blog amongst yourselves!

I’m so happy to see that my friend Toby Bloomberg who is brilliant and wonderful Southern Web woman (in Atlanta, GA) has compiled this list of new social media books from 2009-2010 and soon to be published books for resource!

What a great list and I encourage you to look for these books when they are released so that you can continue to educate and empower all that you want to do in social media.

I’ve also got to say that I’m really looking forward to reading Toby’s book when it is done too. To quote Toby’s blog, “The first business book written using Twitter as the major content platform and distribution channel. ”

You should see the list of folks that Toby has rounded up as a contributors – it’s definitely the top of the top list of marketing gurus on the Web! And even includes an after-forward by a tippity top marketing guy.

In honor of Toby being from the South, I toast her with a virtual mint julep for all she does to help all of us really understand 2.0.

Fantastic article on how to use Twitter by David Risley, CEO of PCMech, as featured in Steve Kayser’s great Cincom Expert Access newsletter.

Steve also added a new expert to the roster, David Henderson, who I think is just a brilliant man and coming out with a new book as well. And for full disclosure…David Henderson is also the wonderful guru who re-designed my blog with all the bells and whistles and I’ve always been a great admirer of his career.

Now “go on” as Tracey Ullman used to say! Go and Twitter.

Oh and before I forget! Go and read Toby Bloomberg’s brilliant series on blogger relations. As a recovering tech journalist, current blogger and online publicist I can tell you the series she did is outstanding and illuminating. Let the bloggers be heard! Toby is just the best at discovering and deciphering for the rest of us how the best in social media are succeeding! Kudos!!
