Blogging is a marathon, not a sprint. If you’re blogging and all you’re asking is, “When will this pay off? When will I have thousands of vistors? How can I convert this to immediate ROI?”, then you’re blogging for the wrong reasons.
Respect the power of blogs and the time, authenticity and real connectivity that comes from blogging for all the right reasons.
Here are some good reasons to blog:
1. You want to connect to like-minded individuals.
2. You want to empower and enrich your blog followers.
3. You know it’s a marathon, not a sprint and you’re still willing to make those blogging laps count.
4. You know it’s important to respect the bloggers and their place online.
5. You have new ideas you want to share.
6. You want to keep in touch with your constituents.
7. You view blogging as another means of having a dynamic conversation with potential partners, peers and supporters.
8. You are committed to learning how to blog and not having someone “ghost blog” for you.
9. You’re willing to engender comments or opinions that might be different than yours and encourage good dialogue about the differences.
That’s a good start. Answer yes to all those and you’re well on your way to blogging a successful marathon!
And what’s up with the title of this blog? I like to think that blogging is always about tomorrow. The changes you can bring about, the way you will enrich new readers
and the stories of success you’ll tell tomorrow to your readers.
